Press Release - For Immediate Release

The Ashland Symphony Orchestra continues its 40th anniversary season with its annual Family Holiday Pops concert on Sunday, November 29th at 7:30 p.m. in McDowell Auditorium.  Under the baton of Maestro Arie Lipsky, the program will feature festive holiday music, including “White Christmas,” “Skater’s Waltz,” excerpts from the “Nutcracker,” and other holiday favorites.  The audience will be invited to join in a collection of traditional carols during the popular “Holiday Sing Along.”

The orchestra will be joined by the Ashland High School A Cappella Choir, directed by Nathan Duvuvuei.  The A Cappella Choir is a select choir from Ashland High School with a long-standing tradition of choral excellence.  The choir has a rigorous performance schedule throughout the school year.  In addition to their performance with the ASO, the choir has been invited to perform with the choral ensembles of Ashland University and the University of Akron.  The evening’s featured soloist will be Katie Mounts, who will sing “O Holy Night.”

“Family Holiday Pops” is made possible by the generous support of Buehler’s Fresh Foods, underwriter for the evening’s concert.  The A Cappella Choir is sponsored by Brethren Care Village and Dr. John Hartzler.  Program printing is sponsored by Ingmand-Whitaker-Myers Insurance Group.

All seats for the evening are reserved.  Individual ticket prices are $12 for adults and seniors and $3 for children.  Tickets may be purchased by calling the AU Box Office at 419-289-5125, noon-6 p.m. Monday through Friday or they may be purchased at the McDowell Box Office the evening of the concert beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Due to the popularity of this concert, the community is urged to purchase tickets in advance or to arrive early the evening of the concert to ensure seating.  Season ticket holders who are unable to attend are encouraged to release their seats by calling the Symphony Office at 419-289-5115.

Patrons may avoid steps to McDowell Auditorium by using the Cottage Street entrance to the Middle School.  Please notify the ASO office if you need assistance parking or entering the theatre, to discuss special needs or to request additional information concerning the facilities.
